Satellite Killed the Radio Star
As many of you know, I’m not a Howard Stern fan and it would seem that most of you no longer are either. At least, not big enough fans to drop cash on Sirius hardware and a subscription. Since he has a crap load of money, maybe he should start giving that stuff away to get his audience back. Better hurry before Opie and Anthony (worse than Stern?) find them.

While I don’t agree with Stern’s attack on the fans who haven’t ventured over to Sirius, I am surprised by the lack of following. I am still a fan and I think lots of folks who don’t pay for Sirius are as well. It must come down to money. I like the Sopranos too but I’m not willing to fork over $20 to watch it once a week. You get a few hours a day with Stern but that’s obviously not enough to justify a monthly membership for some folks. He doesn’t have to throw his money around to get more viewers but he may want to think twice about bashing the very people who put that money in his pocket.

If the powers that be were smart, they’d do one of two things:
1. Figure out if people would pay for a subscription that just gets them Stern. Charge a very small fee for just that channel and then people only need to get the hardware, which is getting cheaper every day and showing up in more and more new cars as an easy add on or package.
2. Get some kind of terrestrial deal like O&A just got where you broadcast and bleep Stern’s show over regular radio and he has more uncensored bits on satellite.

You should hear Adam Carolla’s radio show- it replaced Howard’s on the West Coast. Wait, no, you shouldn’t. It’s boring as hell. And for the love of God, I cannot take more than 1 minute of that “I’ve got a severely deviated septum” nasal whine..

That’s too bad. I was wondering what his show was like. I’d take him over DLR, O&A or Stern any day. At least I only have to put up with a 1/2 hour of Dennis & Callahan in the morning until Dale & Holley come on. A benefit of a late commute!

C’mon now…Dale & Holley don’t talk nearly as much hockey as Dale & Neumie did. Now we have to put up with Celtics Talk too…
Plus, I’d take the Bruins talk over D&C Republican Radio. Heck, I’d even welcome the return of The View.
