Red State Stupidity
I have been thinking about this since I read it yesterday. How dumb are these Red Staters? They go into a Dunkie and want doughnuts? What kind of Homer J. Simpson… er, yeah, he likey doughnuts.
Anyway, some of these people are *cultured* enough to drink a coffee from the Starbies across the street, but they have to be transplants, just not from the Northeast.
Still, makes you wonder if this will catch on down there. I don’t think they are changing the name to Dunkin Coffee for you to get it Cletus…

I’m the first to roll over a Red Stater but I think you have to cut them some slack. Just because this region identifies Dunkin Donuts with great coffee doesn’t mean a brand new region would flock to it with the same desire. What evidence do they have to support it? The guy’s right – the store is called Dunkin Donuts – so a person’s first inclination should be the donuts must be pretty damn good.
All I have to do is throw out Krispy Kreme Donuts as an example. When that launched here, all I heard from people was how bad their coffee was. Well – it says right on the sign – Donuts!!! The coffee is incidental.
Sooo… the South may take a little time adjusting. Once upon a time, Dunkie was more famous for its donuts. It’s coffee only rose to the heights its known in the last 15 – 20 years.

You are right, I’m getting ahead of myself a bit, but if they turn out like Krispy Kreme did up here, then there’s something really, really wrong with those Red Staters.
I would have mentioned KK, but I didn’t want to have a really long aside. Anyhoo, what DD has over them is everything but the doughnuts, which aren’t that bad themselves, but certainly no KK honey-dipped hot off the line. They should be giving out free small coffees instead of free doughnuts though.
BTW – I think Dunkie’s had risen over that time because it’s been coffee in general that has seen such a great rise in popularity. You can beat a good cup of joe and they gots it hands down.

Plus – that’s what they make all their cash on. That and those damned Coolattas. I can’t believe the shear numbers of people that drink those daily. It would put me in sugar shock.
