Happy Halloween
Nothing like posting a Happy Halloween post about an hour before the day is over, but that’s just the way it goes sometimes. If I wasn’t a major sleepaholic or I was a major slacker at work, I could have either gotten up earlier this morning and posted or posted while at work, but since I am and I am not, you get this now.
Makes perfect sense, right? You better read that again…
Anyway, I wanted to post a photo of my Halloween costume this year because I was so happy to have had one in a while. Okay, so that is a lie. You can see my last one from 2003, which is or isn’t a while, over on Ed’s blog (he was Tom Hanks from Castaway again, which is still a kick ass costume three years later). I don’t know if I can consider me as Affleck a costume since he seems indicate I dressed as myself, but whatever.
This year, I was J.D. from Scrubs… okay, so I was a doctor with scrubs on, and that is easy, but I made up a badge with a picture of Zach Braff and the name and all that and since my hair hasn’t been cut in a couple months, I was able to push it up a bit like him (unfortunately if flattened out fairly early as I don’t have that industrial strength crap they must use on the show). So, an easy costume became a little more clever, but it doesn’t stop there.
You see, I came up with an added bonus for the masquerade. If you are a fan of Scrubs, you know that J.D. is writing a screenplay named Dr. Acula, so I picked me up some of those dollar fangs and a little cape and half way thru the night, I turned into Dr. Acula (see a video on the Scrubs nbc.com page). I even whipped up a badge to use for Dr. Acula. Genius!
The best part was a couple people got it and that made it all worthwhile. I even took runner-up for Creativity at the party we all were at. Noelle took the prize though as Ugly Betty. In fact, the couple that won for Couple were dressed up as Earl and Joy from My Name Is Earl, so there was a TV theme to the night I guess!
Anyway, here’s another photo — special thanks to Noelle for providing them — and the badges:

The name badges were a great addition to your costume.
Wow! Your Dr. Acula teeth are really glowing in the second snapshot.

Sorry for knocking on your costume from 3 years ago. If a Project Greenlight T-Shirt is all that’s required to pull off Affleck, then by the number of Vote for Pedro shirts seen outside, there’s about one billion Napoleon Dynamite’s wandering Newbury Street. 🙂
This year you rocked those Scrubs and truly had a great costume. Dr. Acula was the icy topping… and it was a great moment to leave for the loo only to return and find JD transformed. Kudos, man. Your costume rocked while I was milking a three year old knockoff. JD, Ugly Betty, Earl and Johnny Cash were all very well done in my book.

@Betty: Thanks. They only took 10 minutes to make, but I guess that shows. It worked out.
@Ed: I wasn’t exactly disagreeing with you. It’s hard to be Affleck in appearance. I think I just had to act like a dick to everyone and talk Sox. Did I do a good job of that? 😉
Yeah, Johnny Cash was good too, especially since he could play that backpack. Betty was a unique thought and well played. I still dig Castaway and the only thing that would have made it better would have been Colin as Wilson. 🙂
If you want to go as The Todd next year, I’m down for the biting again. Although, maybe you should be Turk and we’ll have Joe be The Todd since according to you, he has the junk to fill that hammock.

BTW: Like Dr. Acula in the video above, I won’t be biting anyone playing The Todd. I don’t care if you wax your nips or not!
