March 2007
This is a list of posts published in March 2007.
Lost: Par Avion
Man, Claire was looking mighty fine with that black dye job. I actually forgot to comment on her flashback in my comments on Ed’s post, but it was sort of fluffy. I mean, we all figured out she was Jack’s half-sister in Ana Lucia’s flashback, right?
Lost: Enter 77
Certainly one of the stronger flashbacks of this season, right up there with Desmond and Juliet’s. For the rest of my thoughts, check out Ed’s post over on The Ed Zone.
Ignoring it is bliss
Oh little blog, how I have ignored you these past couple weeks… and boy has it been great. Not feeling pressured to write a damn thing to bore the masses with endless drivel, just like this post.
Are you bored yet?
Don’t worry, you’ll get there. I already am, but reflect on the fact that blogging is now 10 years old. Consider how many boring blog posts have been posted over that time! See my latest aside for more.
Of course, there are numerous reasons I haven’t blogged lately, the first being the continued drama of being a fantasy baseball league commissioner, especially when said league includes a Mookie. I have spent many a late night over the past week tending to my little baseball league that barely can. However, light is at the end of the tunnel now, so time is freed up to blog a bit.
So, continuing to riff on the baseball, and real quick mind you as many of you care less, I just want to point out a couple things. One,... Continue reading »
Whoz ur daddy?
Blogging slash blogs turn 10. Who is really the first *blogger* on the interwebs? Who cares.
Office newpeats
Taking the repeat to the next level, Greg Daniels and The Office are adding in deleted scenes for upcoming reruns. Good idea.
Lost: Tricia Tanaka is Dead
Laughed ridiculously hard when Mr. Clucks was obliterated, but otherwise, this episode was mediocre at best. Here are my comments on Ed’s post.
Captain America, dead?
Yeah, right!
I love how the mainstream media tunes in on stunts like this. I was just listening to Nightline tease this in the background when I clicked on boston.com and this was on the front page.
Name one big hero that has been killed and stayed dead… they even brought back Bucky for crying out loud. Wonder if he was the sniper that did the job…
Tellyman returns
Not really, no.
Well, not in so much a way as before?
Ah, who cares, it is just a post about some televisionic observations I have had of late (and maybe later…).
So, I was watching Heroes last night, which has been so very good the past three epsiodes, and NBC is running ads for their newest show sure to fail, Raines. Now, was the pitch for this show something along the lines of “let’s put Medium, Tru Calling and The Ghost Whisperer in the blender and sprinkle with a little bit of Monk… oh, and we’ll get Jeff Goldblum!” Really?
Anyone else watching The Black Donnelly’s? I feel compelled to watch, you know, as an Irishman… yeah. Well, if you are, do we really need Joey Ice Cream as a narrator? The sudden insertion of himself into a scene, with subsequent character reaction, is unnecessary and seems forced as a way to try and distinguish the storytelling as unique or different. The story being told does the job just fine… which is to say, mediocre at best. Not sure this one is going to fair much better than S... Continue reading »
Lazy Foxboro
I’m sure it has nothing to do with skit from that show I don’t watch — I’m only aware of it from watching The Office — but it sums up the point pretty well. I don’t even remember when I promised to get these up, but the photos I took at the Pats playoff game against the Jets on January 7th are finally on flickr. My laziness is to blame for the delay.
I think the biggest problem with something like this is taking the time to sort thru all the shots taken and then taking some time to crop or adjust them. Well, remembering how long it took me last time, I kept putting it off and I really need to get better about this if I am to be serious about it being a part of this blog.
I took 462 shots at the Jets game, which is roughly twice what I took at the Colts game in November. Trimming that down to the 87 shots I posted in the photo set was very time consuming… and then deciding if I wanted to edit them or not… and then actually doing it… and then uploading them… and then giving them name, descriptions and tagging ... Mmm… beer
So, I was catching up on my Hotmail, aka my spam box, and Harpoon shared the fact they have produced their first new, year-round beer in nine years. It’s Harpoon Brown Session Ale.
The web page shares the same basic info as the e-mail does, but the e-mail included an explanation of exactly what the heck a Session Ale is, so here you go:
What is a “Session” beer?: According to the BeerAdvocate.com – “any beer that contains no higher than 5 percent ABV (alcohol by volume), featuring a balance between malt and hop characters (ingredients) and, typically, a clean finish – a combination of which creates a beer with high drinkability. The purpose of a session beer is to allow a beer drinker to have multiple beers, within a reasonable time period or session, without overwhelming the senses or reaching inappropriate levels of intoxication. (Yes, you can drink and enjoy beer without getting drunk.)”
Since their link to the Beer... Continue reading »
