Mmm… beer

So, I was catching up on my Hotmail, aka my spam box, and Harpoon shared the fact they have produced their first new, year-round beer in nine years. It’s Harpoon Brown Session Ale.

The web page shares the same basic info as the e-mail does, but the e-mail included an explanation of exactly what the heck a Session Ale is, so here you go:

What is a “Session” beer?:
According to the BeerAdvocate.com – “any beer that contains no higher than 5 percent ABV (alcohol by volume), featuring a balance between malt and hop characters (ingredients) and, typically, a clean finish – a combination of which creates a beer with high drinkability. The purpose of a session beer is to allow a beer drinker to have multiple beers, within a reasonable time period or session, without overwhelming the senses or reaching inappropriate levels of intoxication. (Yes, you can drink and enjoy beer without getting drunk.)”

Since their link to the Beer Advocate done not work, I headed on over there to track it down myself, but no joy after a couple minutes. Apparently, in order to search the site, I need a login and that’s just not worth it, right? I mean, then they’d know I liked beer and it is already bad enough that Harpoon does… not to mention the fact that anyone walking in to the Braintree Rock Bottom thinks I’m a drunk…

Anyway, I did find this cool article there about Beer in Boston. Enjoy.
