Resolutions
I’m sure this is a slap to the face or insult to you fine readers, but my New Year’s resolution is to be a better, more frequent blogger.
Heh… you can stop laughing now. I am kidding of course.
No, I won’t insult you with that one, but let’s just say it is something I’ll attempt to get back to (if anyone cares anymore). It’s going to go hand-in-hand with an attempt to stay in better touch with faraway friends via e-mail. My life isn’t so busy that I can’t accomplish both, so I don’t see why I have such a problem other than feeling said life is pretty lame to continuously report on.
Actually, this blog should really serve that purpose, no?
As a (possibly hollow) show of good faith, my next post will be my year end best-of music post. If you didn’t guess from the Coming Attractions post, the one entitled “Ear wax” was to be a round up of music, but I’m going to rename it “Year wax” and it will be up next. This started to make more sense to wait on given the time of year, but that might be a lame excuse. Other posts for flix, telly and games will follow.
Well, there’s those *ideas* and I don’t know what to call them except to say that they aren’t resolutions. No, this isn’t also some lame attempt to skirt any preconceived inability to keep them without an associated penalty. Because, really, who keeps resolutions? I don’t really know many folks that do.
That said, I had a couple other ideas last year at this time and I actually made good on some of them in 2007. Of course, I think I might have had those same ideas a few years running, but still, persistence pays off I suppose… or something like that. So, those ideas that were completed are stop the insane commute and finally decide on a new vehicle. Those that were not completed will rollover to this year. Hey, maybe that’s a good way to put it because maybe I can get on a roll with this stuff.
Now I don’t know if I should reveal the others or keep them quiet. I mean, for fear of not repeating previous success. (Yes, I am deliberately not saying “jinxing” them.) But then, I don’t know that I wasn’t vocal about those things last year anyway. I’m sure that more than a few people knew I wanted to stop the insanity or pimp a new ride.
What do you think? Reveal them or not? And, just to enhance any discussion that might actually happen here, did you make any resolutions (or have an *idea* of your own)? Want to share?

Resolutions are for you, in your own mind. If you would like us, your friends, to help you do something to better yourself, let us know we will support you, no matter the date. No one needs the changing of the calendar to become a better person. Everyday we should want to be better, not that we always do it, but when we want to be better we may the help of people close us, and for that just let people know and we can be there.
(After re-reading, it sounds a little more mushy than intended, however I think you catch my drift)

Yeah, man, those are some good thoughts and a lot deeper than what I was going for, but again, well said.
