Friday Night Lights
The Best Show I Am Not Now Watching!
Back in October, Ed posted about FNL at The Ed Zone. It was a call to arms that everyone watch one of the best shows on television that, unfortunately, not enough people watch. It is one of those shows with a lot of critical praise, but low viewership. Yup… almost assured cancellation or non-renewal at the hands of some idiot network exec. (See Arrested Development, Veronica Mars.)
I’m sure the heat could be on again this Spring to renew the show, but then, the WGA strike has thrown the proverbial monkey in the wrench with respect to next year’s schedule. It is my belief that NBC will do the right thing and renew the show for at least half a season next year. (They aren’t being as kind to Las Vegas so far though.)
So, to do my part, I have started watching again. Yup, it started accidentally with me catching the last two episodes (shown to date) from this year as I happened to be visiting Noelle on both those Friday nights. She, like her brother, is a rabid fan of the show. In fact, I dare say she loves it more than him. In any case, she’s bummed to have to wait for post WGA strike filmed shows to air… I think in April, right Ed?
I digress. As I said in my comment on Ed’s post, I had a bunch saved up from last season, so this past weekend, I blew thru all of them. Good stuff. I am now pissed that I fell off the wagon. Feel free to point at me and “Ha ha” or “I told you so.”
Anyway, I didn’t keep my momentum going this week due to work and putting the finishing touches on this new hotness. I plan to crank up this season this weekend and maybe get thru them all.
That, and look for my damn Watchmen book again.

Post WGA stuff does come in April but not FNL. They aired 15 eps and are shut down for the season. That said, I’ve read two things which point to FNL returning.
1. NBC may reup it and air it in 2 places – USA and then NBC a day later.
2. If they don’t reup, CW is apparently interested in the show.
So I have high hopes it will be back.
BTW Tim Riggins has been cast as Gambit in the Wolverine flick. Also in that flick is Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool.

Uh-oh… I’ll have to give her the bad news. I hope it does come back.

No more episodes this season! What a disappointment! I’m glad CW might pursue it if NBC doesn’t renew it for next season. Why don’t people just catch on to it already?!
