Telefizzled w.5
(Before I start, are you seeing the blue logo at the top or are you seeing my halloween decorations? Just wondering…)
I am already fizzling out on writing these things. Just kidding. It took me a little extra time to watch one last show from last week, so I had to delay this one a little. It doesn’t matter which one. They were all most teh suck.
There’s a reason I named this series Telefizzled you know…
Chuck: Well, based on what you read, ratings are down for this show and that bums me out. It is a really good show, but NBC and I can’t seem to convince anyone to watch it. If it gets canceled, I am blowing the whole season up until Lost rears its head… and maybe Friday Night Lights. This epsiode was an homage of sorts to Grosse Pointe Blank. We see Sarah as a total nerd in high school and Chuck is giddy to find out some deats about her real life, or so he thinks. Turns out her daddy was a real live confidence man, so whatever name they gave her wasn’t real. I don’t remember if they really sussed it out, but it turns ... Continue reading »
Shipped up to Boston
Because, “I’m Shipping Up To Boston” just no longer applies… I already did it almost nine months ago! And I didn’t go to find my wooden leg. It was to find a new job. But I didn’t find the job. It found me.
So, I figured I’d tell you more about it, nine months later, because I have come to realize that not everyone knows I switched jobs, not once, but twice within the past year! Let me get that out of the way first because many people only know about that switch.
Right about now last year I was shipping halfway up 128 after ending a long and insane daily commute to NH. No job is worth that headache, literally, and I made a switch within the same company to work in MA. This cut out approximately 120 miles of driving per day. Probably also a good hour and a half of personal time back too.
Anyway, my first day with that new group was probably the highlight of my three months there. It turned out to be their team building day and it was at F1 Boston. I did at least four races, which was way better than the single one we did... Continue reading »
Manny more returns
The Hunt for Red Soxtober is over.
They were sunk by the Rays. Not the Yankees. Not the Angels. The no-longer-Devil Rays.
Now, I mentioned in my previous post that I’d start off with more about Manny. I am going to do that, but I am not going to suggest that the Sox would have won if they still had Manny. They wouldn’t have won. The Rays had their number this year and that little bit of extra magic in games 5 and 6 just prolonged the inevitable, right? That’s what the media want you to believe, but I am getting ahead of myself. Back to Manny.
I have been sitting on this second Manny follow-up post for more than a week. As I also mentioned previously, work was in the way again and I just postponed. Is this still relevant today? I don’t know, but maybe you could still read it.
Anyway, it start... Continue reading »
Telefizzled w.4
First off, I offer an apology that I didn’t get another post up last week. Work took over for most of the week and I was drunk the rest of it. I am kidding about the work part. I will get two non-telly posts up this week to make up for it. One being about the Sox and the other being about being drunk at work.
This week saw my schedule grow by two new shows, so here we go:
Chuck: Bryce wasn’t very interesting. I mean, they could have done more other than to make Chuck jealous, like, I don’t know, explore more about his past with Chuck and whether or not they are still sorta friends or frenemies. The interesting wrinkle was Sarah pretty much showed she’s fallen for Chuck, which in turn had Bryce convincing Chuck to put her off, which was a painful scene to watch. Do guys like Chuck pull like that? He is cool, but he handled that too easily. I don’t think I could have done it. Anyway, it has come back to what you’d expect, the will-they, won’t-they arrangement that TV loves, except this time the characters actually got a little ta... Continue reading »
Telefizzled w.3
Don’t read me. Scroll down and look at the photos in the previous post (and those it links to). I’d much prefer that than you reading about what I think about some stupid shows on the telly.
Now that I have you super happy excited to read this…
Chuck: I’m certain now that this is my favorite show on television right now. It used to be The Office, but now it is this. Oh, and before you comment out in all caps it should be Lost, it ain’t on right now! (But Lost would be that if it were.) Back on Chuck, I just enjoy it. I don’t know if it is because I identify with the geek-cool in Chuck, although I don’t pull off the same kinda cool he does, or that we have the same shoes, but I like this character and I especially like his faux girlfriend… okay, let’s not devolve this week shall we? I think I just wish my life were suddenly as exciting as Chuck’s got… yeah, that’s it. As for this episode, old man John Larroquette was quite good. I was mostly expecting a lot of suck out of him, but he pulled off the smar... Continue reading »
The new uploads of old photos
I admit that I am a lazy photographer. I take them and then I wait and wait and wait to share them. There are two reasons for this. The first is I am lazy. The second is you don’t seem excited to see them. Well, not all of you, but most of you. You know who you are.
Anyway, I went on a jaunt this past Sunday night to capture some new interestingness and figured I’d better get crackin with getting the old up before the new. I was a bit shocked when going thru my photostream that I was missing lot more than I thought. The good news, again, is you weren’t excited for them anyway. Also, you need to be a friend or family contact of mine in Flickr — you need to be logged in too — to even see the majority of those I just uploaded, and in one case, finally titled a... Telefizzled w.2
I was going to write this up on Saturday, but Lego Batman conspired to keep me in front of the Xbox and away from my computer. Not a bad thing I guess, but now I am going to bust this out before Chuck starts at 8 because I must watch Yvonne Strahovski and Sarah Lancaster in glorious HD. Therefore, let’s start off with…
Chuck: Well, I did watch it first. So, Morgan wasn’t killed, but I am still hopeful. Sadly, looks like the character they teased getting killed was one of the handler’s bosses, the CIA one. Yup, he blew up with the new Intersect, so that means Casey didn’t have to perforate Chuck, even if he didn’t want to. Michael Clarke Duncan was cool as the baddie, but they should have given him a bit more airtime. Chuck and Sarah went on a real date, which was good, but now they can’t again, so that’s bad? Tease the poor bastard. Speaking of tease, when does Buster show up?
Big Bang: I actually want to quote some funny lines from this one, but I don’t have time and you probably won’t find geek humor funny ... Continue reading »
Two two nine nine nine
Thus stands my Gamerscore. A not so nice and round number no thanks to a couple Xbox Live Arcade games that give out weird number achievements like 4, 6 and 7, etc. Can we keep to 5 as the smallest and go in increments from there please?
Currently enjoying Lego Batman. Those that say it is not much of a leap from Lego Star Wars or Indiana Jones are very mistaken. I found a lot of innovation and change in this game. The puzzles are super easy, it starts at a 10+ age rating, but they are definitely different. The one knock is no Xbox Live co-op, especially with a co-op achievement in the mix. That means I am going to have to work two controllers at once to get it.
It appears I will have no trouble getting to my 24k goal for the end of the year. You know, unless both Xboxes RROD on me.

Manny being manipulated
That’s the title of a Bill Simmons e-ticket on espn.com. It is a long read and well worth it if you are Manny fan, but especially if you are no longer because of his exit behavior. I found I was shaking my head in agreement a lot as I read this today. A lot.
You might remember that I posted about missing Manny not too long ago, but this reinforced my thinking about it after it was shaken a bit by Schilling’s comments. I should have known better than to let that (now) useless blowhard shake by belief with the idea he might have brought new information to the table. I resisted posting when he inserted himself into the news for a few days a few weeks ago, less we forget he exists. After reading this new piece, I can’t help but comment about that too. Fact is, 38pitches and others... Continue reading »
