Telefizzled w.22
With the Nielsen sweeps starting this month, the schedule is going to fill out again, but for this week, just five shows. Let’s get on with it.
Chuck: More beatdowns of Morgan. I love it. Of course, it didn’t last long, but it was very funny when Chuck sprayed him with the nitrous oxide breath spray. Funnier because I didn’t see the setup of that part from the show opening. (I got home a little late.) Jeffster was about as lame as you could ask for, so therefore, awesome! Chuck didn’t get blowned up and he and Sarah do their little dance for us. Sigh.
Lost: I can never decide if I am a fan of John Locke or not, kinda like Sawyer, but overall, this one felt a little flat to me. I slapped up some comments over on Ed’s post. Very little to choose from this week, so I guess I have to go with house-mom Kate.
30 Rock: This one was all about Tracy. Sure, the Lemon and Kenneth quest to retrieve her phone with a boobies picture on it was decent, but it was Tracy playing “devil’s avocado” on Larry King Live that made this one. Even the Jack and Elisa, or *Jalisa* for which the episode was named, was kinda ho-hum. Anyway, it is always fun to listen to Tracy spout off weird things that sorta make sense but do not. One of my favorite lines was:
I’m saying the Disneyfication of New York is over everyone. At the stroke of midnight your Lexus is gonna turn back into a high pile of rats fighting over a human finger.
Friday Night Lights: Okay, I actually felt bad for Buddy for once. Just a little bit. His little ones were total brats, but of course, by the end, a Dillon Panthers football game (and sundaes) heals all. The story with the fullback seemed a little too tidy. Dad came around a little too quick, but maybe that’s what happens when you see your kid score the game winning touchdown. McCoy’s dad is just a little bit insane. The kid pulls it out but he takes off to pout because it was with coach’s help and not yours? Ed is right, the hate for this guy is just gonna keep building. It does seem like JD doesn’t resent his dad or anything, but maybe he is just too brainwashed to see it yet. As for Street, looks like this is it. I’m not sure that this sudden sports agent opportunity in NY is believable, but whatever. This guy does deserve his happy ending in New Jersey or New England with Erin and Noah. Did they deliberately change that to show how hayseed they are in Texas or what?
Dollhouse: So, is the show working when you don’t give a crap about the week’s engagement and only about the mythology stuff? I didn’t give a crap about that singer/stalker stuff. I did like the stuff going on at the Dollhouse and with the FBI agent. So, the Russian thug is a plant by the Dollhouse? Interesting. Was that before or after the agent approached him, i.e. did they take him and mess with his head after the initial contact? I did keep thinking it was possible the singer chick was a long term active, but that didn’t play out. Lastly, what’s up with Sierra and Echo not being total drones back at the Dollhouse. We knew Echo was special, but looks like Sierra is too. Is this just the way they are or is the tech kid, or someone else, enabling this. The doctor hints to Echo’s handler that someone else is watching.
The next week sees new episodes from all my usual shows except Smallville, which is weird given that sweeps actually starts that night according to the Wikipedia. Looks like Burn Notice finishes up its mini-season this week and Trust Me keeps slogging along, just on a new night. I may not watch it this week and see if I miss it.

30 Rock – Everything Tracy Jordan says is Gold. Even if it is someone saying something about in as in Larry King – “We’re back with Tracy Jordan who has just recounted the entire plot of Teen Wolf.”
Lost – Can’t agree with you here. Can’t agree one bit.
FNL – You will grow to hate McCoy’s Dad even more. The Street thing is cliche but I will say that when all is said and done – it was nicely done. And that’s all I’ll say.

At first I thought maybe you didn’t agree with me about house-mom Kate. 😉
Well, I figured a Locke lover like yourself wouldn’t agree with the flat comment, but I probably didn’t qualify that as well as I should have. I think the scenes with Locke were flat and it is only because I like the strong Locke and not the whoa-is-me Locke. I hate that little bitch and I think that is why I waiver with him. That said, I did of course enjoy certain revelations that they give us, so while you gave it 5 mooninites, I’d give it 4 or maybe 4.5 because Locke took something away from it for me. That’s all. I didn’t mean it to sound like I didn’t enjoy the thing as a whole.

See – I think that’s what makes the character so interesting. That the island gives him his strength. It’s a real dichotomy with that guy.
