Photography
Posts about my adventures as an amateur photographer. Usually one or two nice photos show up around these parts, but not enough in my opinion… because I’m a lazy photographer.
Lensgate
It is only fitting that I finally write this post the week of the expected decimation of the New York J-E-T-S! Jets! Jets! Jets! Oh yeah… you know that’s going to happen (short of Tom Brady getting hit by the short bus).
So, the name of this post is Lensgate and I’m guessing you might wonder why. (Hey Ed, at least I procrastinated so long it is now “topical” again.) It does have something to do with the first Pat’s game against the Jets, but that was Videogate or Spygate or whatevergate. I actually hate that we name every conspiracy since Watergate — Contragate being the first I can remember — with a “gate” at the end. I just think it is media silliness… which is an oxymoron. Continuing on… naming this with a “gate” on the end of the title lends itself well to the preposterousness that is this story… and I am getting there, believe me.
So, I attended the Pat’s home opener against the San Diego Chargers. Of course, this was the game after the Jets game and everyone was excited... Continue reading »
Bird and bee
Because there’s just one of each.
I posted some new photos, which I referred to in my last post about photos. I went back for more photos of the flowers in my Mom’s yard and ended up with some bonus bird photos. She routinely has an excellent variety of birds in her yard around dinner time, which is apparently the same for you and them. (Not so much me as I eat late.)Â One of these days I’ll get some photos of the cardinals that come to feed. It is all about patience and time, but that’s true for a lot of photography I guess.
Anyway, I almost got some of two hummingbirds flitting about the yard, but they weren’t stopping anywhere convenient. I almost mistook the first one for a big dragonfly! Her hummingbird feeder wasn’t yet up, but it is now, so maybe I’ll luck into some, but the season is getting pretty late.
So, the new photos are spread across the Flowers 2007 and new Wild things sets. You might be better off viewing by date though. If you can identify the flower, leave a comment on it.
Orange fluff
I have been lazy with the writing lately, so more on that in the next post, but I also feel like I’m in a rut in taking photos only at Sox games. With my first Pats game just over two weeks away, I need to get some other photos out there, so I have been better about trying to take photos of other stuff. Now, since I don’t live in the city, that is tough. It leaves me with flowers and sunsets. Grrrl photos.
Well, I have even more! I took a couple different sunsets over the past couple/few weeks and this is the first. I have added these new photos to my Sunsets set on flickr. I’ll leave it to you to check the “date taken” to figure out the new ones, but as of now, there are eight in total at the start of the set. Or, I guess you could view by date instead. Whatever works for you.
More to come.
Clay pitcher
I had the pleasure of attending the first game of yesterday’s doubleheader to see Clay Buchholz make his major league debut. That makes two in two years as I got to see Jon Lester’s last year.
Unfortunately I missed the start of the game after just missing a Red Line train and then having some ticket pick-up issues. Joe joined me for the game after Ed had to bail on me due to some work mumbo-baloney. I told him instead of getting comp’d an extra day off, he needs to get comp’d some Sox or Pats tix. I think it was the third time we tried to hook up for a game with no joy. Oh wells.
Buchholz looked pretty good and pretty young. I mean like twelve years old young. Kid looks 140 pounds soaking wet if he’s lucky and has he started shaving yet? He’s so thin he could take Casey Fossum’s old nickname: The Blade. Anyway, he was helped out by the Sox offense having... Continue reading »
More grrrl photos
Not really… but, they are of flowers and a sunset…
I also added them to some existing photosets, flowers and sunsets, but you are better off seeing just the new ones with those first two links. Don’t forget to look at the flowers in the larger sizes because those thumbnails definitely don’t do them justice.
Three chins me
I put up some new photos tonight. One, which you can see above (at least at the time of this posting) is of me and my three chins. Yup, I’m now fat. Heck, this post needs a permanent link there…
The new photos were taken while down in Hyannisport and Nantucket a few weeks ago. I was visiting with family and the majority of the photos were of my younger cousins, which are marked family private on flickr. Have to keep these safe from the evil people trolling the interwebs.
There are some of Nantucket, but they are just newer, rinse-and-repeat of other shots I have taken in the past. Others are of the beautiful flowers and bushes around the Hyannisport cottage, which was more like a mansion, right down the street from the Shrivers’ and the Governator. I’m not even kidding.
If... Continue reading »
Phoned in
What’s this? Three posts in three hours? Oh my gawdz!
I just wanted to point out a few photos I took with my mobile as I was driving home from work tonight (last night???). The rainbow(s) were some of the best I have ever seen and here I am with only my mobile! So much for having expensive camera equipment when you have no secure place to keep it! If only I had a vehicle that had locks that meant something…
Anyway, they were super bright on the ends and wicked fat. There was also sometimes a second rainbow that almost was like a reflection in that the colors were going the opposite way. I don’t recall ever noticing that before when I have seen doubles.
Serendipity
Check out the new photoset [slideshow] I posted on Flickr from the July 4th Red Sox game. I coincidentally ended up selecting 76 photos to post. I swear. It was serendipity yet again. First 33 for Varitek and now this.
Anyway, these were taken from the really good lower box seats that are owned by Noelle’s company. Ed couldn’t make the game so I was called in from the bullpen. He’d been begging to see a game from there for years and when it is finally his turn, he can’t take it. He’s likely to never see them now! 😉
Did you watch the HR Derby the other night? I didn’t and I guess I didn’t miss anything… Rios vs. Vlad for the final? Puh-leaze. They need to work... Continue reading »
Forty-four more
I guess when it comes to posting new photosets, I am going in multiples of eleven lately.
I know that even though I have a list of posts to get out here, I haven’t and let’s be honest, it is not like anyone is complaining that I have been so lazy for the past month. I might get some up soon… or not. I guess I can depend on usually having some photos to throw out there when my writing muscle is atrophying…
So, I just posted a bunch from two games played against the Cleveland Indians — the return of Trot Nixon! — May 29-30. I went to the game on the 4th with Noelle — Ed‘s loss was my gain! — and got a lot of great new photos from the seats behind the plate, so I figured I had to get these out there first.
Unlike the last two sets, I didn’t edit these at all and I barely commented them. I figured they were good enough as is for now, although I... Continue reading »
Thirty-three more
As promised in Ketchup, I added 33 more photos to my photostream from the Braves and Sox game on 05.20.2007 in honor of Jason Varitek’s bases clearing triple (which I caught in one of the photos).
Okay, not really… it just worked out to be 33, but that’s still cool. I made a new photo set for the game and added the other three I posted previously to it. I already wrote up a short Aside about the game when I posted those photos, but you can read the photo set description too if you want even more info!
So, how about you put your browser into full screen mode now by hitting your F11 key. Then open the kick ass flickr slideshow for this set (be sure... Continue reading »
