Posts about the stuff flowing thru the tubes. You know… the series of tubes that done brought you this fine product, lolcats, pir8d musics, films or softwarez, and pr0n.
Downloadables
Microsoft has gone on a quiet little spree of releasing some good stuff for free downloads over the last month or so. I thought I might provide the links here so that you can update your stuff and be as secure as possible.
I highly recommend the Defender Anti-Spyware software, so if I had you install the beta, get the final version now. The Zune XP Theme is a long-time coming, it is just too bad they released it about 3 months before Vista is available. It is a mostly black theme that embarrasses the blue, puke green or silver theme you are using right now.
Lastly, if you are interested in an alternative browsing experience than IE, give Mozilla Firefox 2 a ... Continue reading »
Lego Chain Gun
I remember Joe posted some interesting Lego stuff on Scooby awhile back, but this thing kicks any of those things asses as far as I can remember. Check out the description on Engadget and scroll down for the YouTube video.
Chicken and Star(War)s
For those that liked the previous aside for the Robot Chicken Star Wars Parody, I have two more for you courtesy of Jeanne’s son Eddie. I showed him this one and he knew about these other two. The first is another Star Wars parody from Robot Chicken, but centers on the Empire Strikes Back. This was actually one of the skits I had seen on the show before. The other is an animated Star Wars Gangsta Rap that is pretty clever.
Sam and Max
I was going thru some links that I haven’t visited in a while and one of them happened to be the Sam & Max web comic. It’s hosted by the Telltale Games folks who are busy on making a new web-based Sam & Max game.
Since I posted an Aside about the comic in April, there have been updates for July and August. There is more updated content available on the Telltale site and blog like Sam & Max spill out onto the Internet. Explore the site for more.
The coolest thing is probably the ability to make your own Sam &... Continue reading »
Robot Chicken Star Wars
I don’t troll YouTube looking for shiznit that makes me blow milk thru my nose. I’ll leave that to JPo and JDo. What I do is read other bloggers that do and steal their linkage. I’ve watched parts of Robot Chicken a few times and it is hit or miss. This one is a hit, so make sure you watch it to the end for the good stuff.
Ima Web 2.0 Sellout
I am sick of all these Web 2.0 style logos and buttons and such, so I am happy to see someone poke a little fun at it by writing an image generator. Go ahead and generate your own…
My Friend Flickr
First off, everyone celebrate! This is my 100th Post or Page in the OB1og. That’s probably 50 more than I thought I’d get to at this point, but I guess a good chunk — 44 at current count — are just Asides, so maybe I am half-fluff.
Okay, the real point of this post is to point out to you that I have been making some adjustments to my Flickr photostream over the last month or so. Ever since I have upgraded to a Pro account, I have been playing with more features. I recently, as in today, decided to mark some photos as viewable by Friends, Family or Friends & Family only.
What does that mean to you? Well, if you aren’t one of... Continue reading »
Firefox Day
Am I late to this party or what? Feh, for fun I *enlightened* my alter-ego Ryan Coulton. I didn’t want to spam anyone real, but I do recommend you download Firefox and give it a shot anyway. Heck, spam someone if you want your name in lights.
It is more secure than IE6 and renders my blog (and others) better too. Can’t wait to see how Firefox 2 and IE7 will match up as IE7 looks to be a huge improvement over IE6. I have been running IE7 beta 3 for a while and it is pretty good.
The Office: The Accountants
The first three webisodes for The Office are on-line at nbc.com.
For the most part, the first three are very weak. Kevin (Brian Baumgartner) is the only one that stands out, but that’s probably just because of the group that is involved, he’s the only one I like. I suppose the third one with Meredith (Kate Flannery) is okay, but just because she’s a drunk and who doesn’t love a drunk!
Honestly though, The FedEx Kinkos commercial that precedes each episode is better… so far. Considering I knew it would be the secondary players ahead of time, I probably shouldn’t be disappointed, but I guess I had higher hopes that they’d shine when given the spotlight.
New episode each Thursday, so let’s hope they get better.

YouTube Googled Up
I almost laughed out loud when I saw the breaking news today. I’m sorry, but that is an insane amount of money to pay out for something like YouTube.
Sure, the kids like it today, but give it another year and something else will come around. Are they going to make enough money off advertising or in free marketing dollars of their other properties, which is really unnecessary since everyone uses Google, to justify this?
They should have bought up MySpace while they were at it…
