Fake Tales of San Francisco

Coit TowerI posted more photos — do yourself a favor and look at larger sizes when on Flickr — from my trip to California tonight. As mentioned in my previous post about the trip, I hit Big Sur for the first day. These were all taken on my second full day there, which was Sunday 10/22.

I arrived by noon PDT on Friday 10/22, but I felt so sick after my flight — stomach and headache or migraine that caused me to feel nauseous, it was all bad — I headed straight for my hotel and crashed for a couple hours. I only got two hours sleep the night before and maybe two more bad hours on the flight. By the time I woke up, I was pretty worthless... Continue reading »

Californication

Fog rolling in on Big SurThe first photo set from my recent trip to California is up. It chronicles a little too long trip down Highway 1 thru the Big Sur area. I had done this trip as a kid in a Crown Vic rental car loaded up with three adults and three kids and still had fond memories. Noelle and I didn’t make it past Monterey when we were out two years ago, so it was number one on my priority list for this time.

After seeing a lot of good stuff in the beginning, I went too far down and should have turned around earlier, but I kept thinking I’d eventually see something worthwhile, besides I had nothing else to do after a certain point in time. I think that is called the point-of-no-return. Anyway, I got elephant seals sleeping... Continue reading »

I’m Going Back to Cali

…to Cali, to Cali. I think so!

My posting of my photos back in August from my last trip to California under that title has proven to be prophetic. I am indeed flying out to San Francisco today for a long weekend of personal time and two days of bidniz.

What does that mean to you? Not much except that I will be posting more photos of the same shiznit for you, just newer…

For now, enjoy some Jack-O-Lanterns for Halloween.

Thank you sir, may I have another?

Thank you sir, may I have another?A classic line from Animal House, which has nothing to do with the sport of Cricket, but there I am swinging a giant paddle-looking-thing and I couldn’t resist.

In reality, that’s me swinging a Cricket bat. In the full post you can click the photo to see a larger version on Flickr.

I had just missed of course. As a striker, I never made contact and made an out when the bowler struck the wickets before six balls made an over. How’s that for some interesting words?

Hopefully that is an accurate description, but if you want to know what some of those terms mean, then by all means check out this explanation of cricket I found via Google. I suppose I could try and relate s... Continue reading »

My Friend Flickr

Stars and Stripes

First off, everyone celebrate! This is my 100th Post or Page in the OB1og. That’s probably 50 more than I thought I’d get to at this point, but I guess a good chunk — 44 at current count — are just Asides, so maybe I am half-fluff.

Okay, the real point of this post is to point out to you that I have been making some adjustments to my Flickr photostream over the last month or so. Ever since I have upgraded to a Pro account, I have been playing with more features. I recently, as in today, decided to mark some photos as viewable by Friends, Family or Friends & Family only.

What does that mean to you? Well, if you aren’t... Continue reading »

What About OB1og?

I noticed some visitors have been clicking on some of my neglected navigation links off to the left there, so I decided to bang a couple out tonight. I have added content to the About and Audio pages.

They are pretty fluffy, but what do you expect? It is hard to talk about yourself and do the bio. I think next time I’ll lie some more to make it interesting. I should open up comments on it to see what you flame me with, but my ego can’t take it, so just post those kind of comments on any old post you feel like, even if it is off topic… or this one.

The audio stuff is just my fave Top 10 of the moment, which changes by the moment as I buy new discage, but I’ll try to keep up with it. I’ll also add an all-time Top 10 there and something else I have been thinking of doing. Oh yeah, when I finally get around to typing up that full Generic... Continue reading »

Shuttle Launch

Pepsi shuttle saluteThe Space Shuttle was launched on Indepedence Day for the first time ever and I have posted some photos taken at the Johnson Space Center almost three years ago to commemorate. The photo on the left is of a 25 year old can of Pepsi given to me that long ago by my Uncle David who purchased it at Edwards AFB and brought it home for me. More about the can and another picture in my Flickr photostream.

It’s a great thing that they finally got back up after almost a year off and hopefully the crew and vehicle both make it home safely. I think everyone understands the risks the astronauts take when they fly and we should all... Continue reading »

This Week in OB1og

Coco robs Wright in center

Yeah, it’s been a little over a week since my last post and I apologize, but it is not like there has been any public outcry/outrage over it. I don’t even have a good excuse except that maybe I didn’t feel like sitting in front of the computer after getting home from work all week. Instead, I watched the Sox sweep the Mets, which is something I haven’t done much of this year. Well, no one had watched them sweep the Mets yet; I mean watch the Sox on TV. I think the Orsillo Cam is brand new and, quite frankly, it frightens me.

So, the idea of this post is to catch up on this week’s activity, much like This Week in Basball does and a bit like Ed just did over on The Ed Zone.

I guess I’ll start with last Saturday because I can’t remember further back than that and it’s also the... Continue reading »

Happy 06.06.06 Eddie

Gotta go with Eddie on a day like today, a day like no other.

I decided last night that I wouldn’t do a tribute to Ed for his birthday, but his post on his blog this morning changed my mind. As he said, “to keep the tradition alive,” I have decided to mark his birthday with pictures, but since he’s not nearly as cute as his kids or dogs, he gets the funny treatment.

For the record, I did keep the most embarrassing two pictures from seeing the Internet. He paid enough by having to wear one on his bachelor party t-shirt.

I’m sure there will be payback in December, if not sooner… 😈

Happy Birthday Aria

Continuing the new tradition, I have posted some pictures of Aria to my flickr photostream. Since she is turning one today, I don’t have a lot and I also had to *borrow* some from Ed’s flickr and a Kodak gallery Andi set up from Saturday. Of course, Ed has posted another excellent birthday tribute for his daughter.

Colin and Aria celebrated their birthday’s with friends and family and I was the designated photographer for cake and presents. As I joked in a flickr comment, I need to get some original copies for my portfolio that will eventually go under the Visual section of this here bloggy blog.

It was a fun party. I also had the pleasure of heading out there a day earlier to help Ed with some yard chores (no one lost a limb this time) and putting together some gifts. We had a tough time with a kid-sized picnic table and I said this was just like Christmas Eve except it wasn’t, I wasn’t anyone’s Dad and we weren’t half in the bag. We eventually worked it out in time to meet up with Joe to see X3.
