Year in consumables: 2009 movies
Every year it seems I debate how to approach this list. Is it based on the movies from the year that I actually viewed during that year? Any movie I viewed that year? Any movie that came out in that year that I have seen as of the date this is posted?
Traditionally it is the first of those choices and I double checked last year’s post and that’s what I did. I guess I can stick with tradition, but it kind of sucks. I can tell you right now that the best movie I watched during 2009 was Slumdog Millionaire, but that came out in late 2008. The best movie I have seen from 2009 was The Hurt Locker, but that was this past January (2010). Both would top the list for their given year of release, but that’s not how I am doing the list. That’s the rub.
Besides Locker, I have also watched eight other movies from 2009 this year, and yes, some of those wou... Continue reading »

This post combines watching for November and December and I only watched five movies during that time. Well, it was really six, but one was Star Trek which I took in at the theater over the summer. I didn’t write anything about in-theater movies yet, but just so you know, I’d rate this one with five heads.
The format remains the same, which is the new format from last time, just a sentence per head. Continue reading »

Last month I threw out there that I had already watched a bunch of chick flicks for this month. It was only five days in too. Well, the trend continued and no, I am not copping to all the ones I watched, but I will cop to all the d!ck flicks — thanks for that term Ed — that I watched to try and balance things out. If anyone wants to try and formulate a theory for why I like chick flicks so much, feel free, but be forewarned that any comments to the effect of me being gay will be ignored. (Even though you might be correct.)
Remember the rules here; a few thoughts and a rating. Nothing more.
Eagle Eye As I mentioned in the comments of Ed’s post about this movie, I too had a line about WOPR planned for this one but he beat me to the punch. You should watch this movie and then maybe read my comments about it there. Don̵... Continue reading »
Heroes: Hiro’s
Well, after sitting on two flights of six and five — the jetstream kicks ass! — hours for my trip to and fro Cali, I sure do wish I had Nathan’s power of flight. That evil, corrupt bastard sure can move like a mothafu… you get the point.
His power is a lot more impressive than what we’ve seen before. He shot straight up and turned on a dime to leave a vapor shockwave and boom, which indicates breaking the speed of sound from a standstill. However, he can still hurt his feeties when he lands, so something is protecting him while moving at speed or the air friction would shred his skin away.
Yeah, I know, this is deeper than I need to go with this, but I do read comics.
You have to wonder what his range is though as... Continue reading »

The Future is Hot
When you read things like this, it should make you stop and think about becoming a tree-hugger. It also makes you realize that those of us who consider ourselves pretty smart, aren’t so smart because there are people in the World so much smarter than you and they work on things that matter. It’s too bad we’ll never make it to that Star Trek Utopia on Earth deal. Well, maybe we will if we blow ourselves up first too…
