Opening day

National anthem

Mission accomplished! Photos uploaded in a timely manner. There are a lot of them. Seventy to be exact. Your best bet is to open this post and view the slide show. View it in full screen too. Please check these out. I took them for you.

So, I had to see for myself what the difference was between Opening Day and a regular game. I had the opportunity to grab a single ticket for the game when I was selected for the second chance lottery for Opening Day and Yankee tickets. Only single seats were available and it seemed like all of the Yankee games were obstructed view. I said screw it and opted to go it alone so I could finally experience an opener.

Now, I’ve seen a lot of the same pomp and circumstance before since I have gone to a 4th of July... Continue reading »

Serendipity

Check out the new photoset [slideshow] I posted on Flickr from the July 4th Red Sox game. I coincidentally ended up selecting 76 photos to post. I swear. It was serendipity yet again. First 33 for Varitek and now this.

Anyway, these were taken from the really good lower box seats that are owned by Noelle’s company. Ed couldn’t make the game so I was called in from the bullpen. He’d been begging to see a game from there for years and when it is finally his turn, he can’t take it. He’s likely to never see them now! 😉

Did you watch the HR Derby the other night? I didn’t and I guess I didn’t miss anything… Rios vs. Vlad for the final? Puh-leaze. They need to work... Continue reading »

Clemen$

RO-GER, RO-GER, RO-GER!

Can you hear it now?

I had been formulating a post in my brain since the minute I heard the news of Roger Clemens going back to the Yankees, but I didn’t have time to pump it out.

Then, Ed beat me to the punch last night, so I was content to simply post a comment there. But, as I started writing, I realized there was no way I could express this as a comment, so I had to bang out this. I had to add a post to the Clemens fire in the Blogosphere.

I was listening to the Sox game on Sunday afternoon when Castiglione, or that new clown — not Dave O’Brien, the other guy — announced the Rocket made an appearance on the Yankee Stadium jumbotron. Ed and I had just taken in Spider-Man 3 and were headed back to his house for some beer and burgers, so when we stopped at a packy to pick up the beer we had a quick chat as we peeped our choice of brew.

We were traveling separately, so when I got out, the... Continue reading »

Blog Days of Summer

I can tell by the way the past two weeks have gone that it is going to be tough to post on a regular basis. Actually, maybe I just need to redefine what a regular basis is going to be for the Summer.

Yeah, that’s what needs to happen, so based on how it has gone since it *officially* turned Summer, we’ll go with the one post a week schedule. I think it’s a thing going around, you know? Ed and Jason seem to have it too and those Scoobs have it year ’round. Of course, there could be Asides added at any time in between, but not much has really caught my eye as of late, although I did just post one about being Pearl Jammed.

You’d think I had all kinds of stuff going on since it was so nice out and all that, but the... Continue reading »

Angels v Devils

I was just reading busblog and Tony pointed out that on 06.06.06 the Anaheim Angels played the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Wait, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim played the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

Yeah, so was it coincidence that the Angels played the Devils on 666? The Angels won 12-2, so I guess we know who’ll win when Armageddon slash The Apocalypse slash whatever you want to call it should it actually happen, right?

More Manny Being Manny

Manny Being MannySo I went to the Sox game again last night and they unfortunately lost to the Spankees despite another poor start by Randy Johnson. A highlight for the Sox was Manny continuing his hot streak by swatting two homers to make 4 in 3 games against the Yankees.

Hopefully this has quieted his critics who, prior to the series, were complaining that he has been unproductive despite being second in the league in walks and having a higher average at this time than last year when he also had a slow start. However, everyone wants to point at his higher strikeout rate and lack of home runs and RBI. Of course, as I write this, he’s 0-3 with a BB against Tampa…

Truth be told, he’s off to a great start this year as far as I am concerned. He’s been playing a great left-field and running out of the box. Okay, so there was one night I remember he had a bad baserunning blunder and yes, last night he ran thru a stop sign... Continue reading »

Tampa Blu-rays

Sometimes I get carried away with leaving a comment somewhere and it turns into a short blog post. Since I now have my own bloggy blog, I can blog it and let a pingback handle the comment for me. This way I can also add a clever title. Actually, I just think I am clever. Maybe you don’t know that Tampa is always a bottom feeder because they don’t draft pitching. Sony is going to become a bottom feeder because they are bundling. Perhaps I should get to the point…

Ed posted a quick Aside about the PS3 and I started going off with a comment. In fact, this is the second time today because I already did so in an e-mail exchange with him earlier today. Anyway, I understand companies need to make their money and they need a marquee product to spotlight their company. I don’t know that it has ever been more evident what this can do for a company than with the case of the iPod saving Apple’s bacon. Sure, the iMac saved it from the brink of destruction over...
